What is Round Ligament Pain?

If you’re pregnant and you feel sudden sharp pain when you stand, sneeze or roll over in bed, we can help!

The round ligaments connect the front of your uterus to your groin, and pain typically starts in the second trimester.

As your uterus and belly grow, it stretches the round ligaments and can cause them to spasm or tighten, especially if baby’s position is slightly off balance. This can cause a sudden sharp pain in the belly called round ligament pain.

Round Ligament pain can be severe enough to limit walking and can cause significant pain when trying to roll over in bed, stand up, or even sneezing.

Gentle, pregnancy-safe adjustments can help relieve tension and ease baby into a more balanced position- so come see us!
